Sussex Art Fair returns to Goodwood Racecourse this May
Sussex Art Fair 2025: Experience the Landscapes of West Sussex with local artist Matthew Cordwell
I am thrilled to be showcasing my latest work at the Sussex Art Fair 2025, taking place at the iconic Goodwood Racecourse from May 9th to 11th. This highly anticipated event is a celebration of contemporary art, bringing together over 90 talented artists showcasing more than 3,000 artworks, ranging from affordable prints to stunning original paintings.

Make a Day of It – Explore the Beauty of West Sussex
Visiting the Sussex Art Fair at Goodwood Racecourse is the perfect excuse to spend a full day (or even a weekend) exploring the stunning landscapes, historic villages, and cultural gems of West Sussex. Whether you’re an art lover, a nature enthusiast, or a history buff, there’s plenty to see and do nearby.
West Dean Gardens – Just a short drive from Goodwood, these beautifully restored gardens offer a peaceful escape with stunning walled gardens, Victorian glasshouses, and scenic parkland walks. A must-see for garden lovers (the glasshouses are a marvel of Victorian engineering and the pergola walkway is incredible at this time of year).
Weald & Downland Living Museum – Step back in time at this fascinating open-air museum, home to historic buildings dating from the 13th to 19th centuries. It’s also the filming location of the beloved BBC show The Repair Shop, so fans won’t want to miss it.
West Wittering Beach – Fancy a coastal detour? The golden sands of West Wittering offer the perfect spot for a relaxing beach walk, a picnic, or even a refreshing dip in the sea. The sweeping views of Chichester Harbour are breathtaking.
Historic Villages of Singleton & East Dean – If you love picturesque villages, you’ll find plenty of charm in Singleton and East Dean, both just a stone’s throw from Goodwood. Thatched cottages, historic pubs, and rolling countryside make these villages ideal for a leisurely wander.
Petworth & Petworth House – This bustling market town is packed with independent shops, galleries, and antique stores. Petworth House & Park, a National Trust property, boasts an outstanding collection of art and sprawling deer-filled parkland designed by Capability Brown.
Walks & Outdoor Adventures
The Trundle – For spectacular panoramic views over Goodwood and the South Downs, take a walk up The Trundle, an ancient hillfort. It’s a short but rewarding climb, offering one of the best viewpoints in West Sussex.
Kingley Vale Nature Reserve – Home to some of the oldest yew trees in Europe, this nature reserve near Goodwood is a magical spot for a woodland walk, with winding trails leading to breathtaking hilltop views.
South Downs Way – If you fancy a longer walk, part of the South Downs Way runs close to Goodwood. Whether you choose a short section or a full day’s hike, you’ll be rewarded with rolling hills, open countryside, and picture-perfect scenery.
Whether you’re exploring the art fair, discovering charming villages, or soaking up the beauty of the South Downs, Sussex Art Fair 2025 is just the start of a fantastic day out in West Sussex. Plan your visit and make the most of everything this stunning region has to offer!
